The biggest run chases in men's T20

When Washington Freedom hunted down 270 against MI New York at the Oakland Coliseum in 2026, they didn't just win an MLC match — they set the benchmark for the biggest successful run chase in men's T20 cricket. It remains the only 270-plus target ever overhauled in the format across the competitions on record.

Right behind that landmark sit two IPL efforts from Punjab Kings, the only team to feature twice on this list. In 2026 they chased 265 against Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium, having earlier reeled in 262 against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens in 2024. That Eden Gardens chase stood as an extraordinary feat in its own right until the numbers kept climbing.

The list is a showcase of just how far T20 scoring has travelled, with several leagues represented. The IPL dominates with four entries, joined by MLC, the BBL, the PSL and international cricket. South Africa's 259 against West Indies at SuperSport Park in 2023 is the highest chase in a T20I, while Australia's 245 against New Zealand at Eden Park in 2018 shows this trend isn't entirely new. Brisbane Heat's 258 against Perth Scorchers at the Brisbane Cricket Ground in 2025 flies the BBL flag.

Sunrisers Hyderabad, like Punjab Kings, appear twice — chasing 249 against Mumbai Indians at the Wankhede Stadium in 2026 and 247 against Punjab Kings at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in 2025.

The PSL closes out the top ten, and curiously Peshawar Zalmi are on the wrong end of both entries: Multan Sultans chased 244 and Quetta Gladiators 243, both at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium in 2023. Eight of these ten chases have come in 2023 or later, underlining how batting ceilings keep rising.
